Who We Are
We are a youth-led organization working in Rwanda and Canada to help underserved youth overcome barriers through mentorship, mental wellness, career development, and entrepreneurship. Rooted in Quaker values and open to all, we believe every young person deserves the chance to reach their full potential.
The Challenge: Barriers to Potential
Young East African individuals, whether building their lives in Rwanda or navigating the Canadian diaspora, face significant systemic barriers that limit their potential.
- In Rwanda: Challenges include access to practical knowledge, professional networks, and the kind of guidance that turns potential into possibility. Youth unemployment remains high not because opportunity does not exist, but because the bridge between young people and those opportunities too often does not exist.
- In Canada: East African youth face several challenges including systemic barriers, building a life in a new culture, and the unspoken weight of trauma inherited from conflict and displacement. These young people not only need career support, but also a community.
FCC exists to bridge these gaps, ensuring that talent and ambition are never wasted.
