Who We Are

Friends Career Center began in May 2021 by five young Quakers in Kigali. They started where they were, offering what they could to the young people around them.

What we saw wasn’t a lack of ambition. It was a lack of access: to mentors, to mental health support, to the professional networks that quietly decide who gets seen and who doesn’t.

Not long after, two of our founders moved to Canada and found the same gaps waiting in East African refugee and immigrant communities there, young people full of potential, absent from professional spaces. So FCC grew to meet them too.

Today we work across Rwanda and Canada, mostly volunteer-led, building pathways to mentorship, economic independence, and wellbeing for young people.
